There will be another Puerto Rico vs. Philippines boxing match-up on February 27th in Puerto Rico. Wilfredo Vazquez Jr., son of world boxing champion Wilfredo Vazquez will be facing undefeated Filipino fighter Marvin “Marvelous” Sonsona for the vacant WBO superbantam title.
Vazquez is unbeaten with 17 wins (14 KO’s) and 1 draw and holds the interim WBO Latino superbantam crown. Marvin Sonsona’s record is 14-0-1, with 12 KO’s. Sonsona lost his WBO super flyweight title when he failed to make the weight in his Nov. 21 fight against Mexico’s Alejandro Hernandez in Ontario, Canada.
The WBO superbantam title has been recently vacated by Puerto Rican star Juan Manuel Lopez, who is gunning for the WBO featherweight crown against Steven Luevano on January 23 in New York.
“This will be a highly-competitive bout between two world class young fighters. Fans in Puerto Rico are aching to see a Pinoy face their idol. And Filipinos will be behind Sonsona to give his country another win over Puerto Rico after Pacquiao disposed of Cotto,” said WBO Asia Pacific chairman Leon Panoncillo.

This fight will surely mark another boxing history as two young undefeated fighters will show their existence on ring. I am really excited with this fight.
