Boxer Edgar “The Chosen One” Berlanga takes pride in Puerto Rican descent, as he continuously traces back his roots.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York to Puerto Rican parents. Berlanga started boxing at the age of 7 and made his professional debut in 2016. For him, he always represents the country and the people of Puerto Rico in his every fight.

“For me, it is important to come to the island more often to make people understand who I am and what my personality is. I’ve been to various gyms [in Puerto Rico] and people thanked me for being so humble,” Berlanga said in an interview.

Today, Boxer Edgar Berlanga is already making his name as the super middleweight division professional boxer. He has a winning knockout streak within the first round of every fight with an undefeated score of 15-0. People say he can be the next Mike Tyson who recorded knockout wins throughout half of his boxing career.

But despite the great record, the Puerto Rican boxer believes he still has more to prove his potential and wants to succeed in making his own legacy.

“It’s good to be compared, but I want to build my own legacy and I’m doing it. It is exciting to be mentioned in the same breath as Tito Trinidad, Miguel Cotto, Wilfred Benítez, and Macho Camacho. But I have achieved nothing. Maybe I have reached 20%. of the road. It is a long journey. I have not yet won a world championship or made a defense of it,” Berlanga said.

His latest fight in October was with Lanell Bellows at MGM Grand Convention Center. This marks his 15th victory and 2 more wins will put him next to the list of boxers with first-round KOs to start a career in professional boxing.

Supporters are waiting for his next scheduled fight on December 12 at the MGM Grand’s Conference Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
